The first Skills Lab session which was held on August 11, 2023, represented a vital step in the organization’s digital transformation journey. Director Paulo Paje, from the UP Information Technology Development Center, guided the session on unraveling the intricacies of digital transformation.

Through practical examples and case studies, Director Paje emphasized the significance of adapting to technological advancements and leveraging them to drive efficiency, innovation, and growth.  His inspiring presentation outlined fundamental digital transformation concepts and motivated PNOC staff to embrace the digital paradigm shift with enthusiasm and preparedness.  This inaugural Skills Lab session served as a springboard to equip attendees with knowledge and perspective essential for navigating and succeeding in the fast-changing digital era.

Learning Cyber Threats in a Digital Environment

During the September 8 session of the Skills Lab, Mr. Noel Benedict Ramos, a recognized authority in information security, discussed the crucial topic of information security.

With his expertise, the session delved into the ever-evolving digital threats and the importance of robust security measures.  Mr. Ramos’ discourse shed light on various aspects of information security, including safekeeping sensitive data and systems, cyber security protocols, risk assessment methodologies, and the need for employee awareness and adherence to best practices to mitigate vulnerabilities.  The session emphasized the technical aspects and the significance of proactive measures to protect PNOC.  The attendees obtained valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of information security and learned about their integral role in maintaining PNOC’s secure digital environment.  Mr. Ramos’ session in the Skills Lab further strengthened PNOC’s commitment to information security, fostering a resilient and secure digital infrastructure required in today’s technology-driven world.

Deriving Meaningful Insights through Power BI

Mr. Gabriel Villorente, an expert from the UP Information Technology Development Center, enlightened the audience with a comprehensive study on business intelligence using Power BI dashboards, in his October 13 session of Skills Lab.  

He revealed the potential and functionality of Power BI in transforming data into visually appealing and informative dashboards.  The session delved into the intricate capabilities of Power BI, including its data visualization, analysis, and interpretation abilities.  Mr. Villorente guided attendees through creating impactful dashboards, demonstrating the process of harnessing data and extracting meaningful insights critical for informed decision-making.
