MARIVELES, Bataan–In a united effort to combat marine pollution, PNOC spearheaded a large-scale coastal clean-up at the PNOC Industrial Park (PIP) Construction Jetty on March 21, 2025. The initiative mobilized 158 volunteers, highlighting a growing culture of environmental responsibility among companies and organizations working within and around the park.
Participants included representatives from PNOC, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Natural Resources Development Corporation, NPC Alliance Corporation, Petron, Team Philippines Energy Corporation, Orica Philippines Inc., Philippine Resins Industries, Inc., Servicio Filipino, Inc., EliteBlue Security Specialist, Inc., and Adriano Construction.
PIP Officer-in-Charge Domingo S. Inlong emphasized the power of collaboration in addressing environmental challenges. “Coastal clean-ups at the PIP Bataan are vital for preserving our shoreline and supporting marine biodiversity. These efforts help mitigate pollution from industrial plants and nearby communities,” he said.
The group gathered over 1,300 kilograms of waste, primarily composed of expanded polystyrene foam, plastic bottles, assorted plastic products, wood, and bamboo debris. Plastic waste, in particular, remains a persistent environmental hazard, endangering marine biodiversity and disrupting coastal ecosystems. The large volume of waste collected highlights the ongoing need for sustained clean-up efforts and responsible waste management practices.
The Park-wide Coastal Clean-up is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. Beyond collecting waste, the activity serves as an education drive—encouraging participants and the broader community to reduce plastic use, embrace recycling, and make more sustainable lifestyle choices.
Engr. Inlong added, “Beyond clean-ups, we aim to foster environmental awareness, promote responsible waste disposal, and enhance the overall appeal of the park. Through collective action, we move closer to sustainable development and a better quality of life for the people of Mariveles.”
PNOC is dedicated to continuing its environmental efforts and will be organizing more initiatives to further its mission. Through stronger partnerships and community engagement, PNOC hopes to inspire a wider movement that promotes sustainability and environmental responsibility.
