PNOC

TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila—PNOC capped its Women’s Month celebration with two consecutive activities that emphasized holistic empowerment through knowledge and preparedness. Led by the PNOC Gender and Development Focal Point System, the initiatives reflected the nationwide theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” supporting the national call for a society where women across all sectors are empowered to thrive, contribute, and lead.

One of the activities brought together members of the PNOC Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Energy Center security personnel for a comprehensive Fire Prevention Seminar and Firefighting Exercise. The session, hosted by the PNOC Exploration Corporation, featured experts from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Taguig, who equipped participants  with essential knowledge on fire chemistry, hazard identification, and emergency response protocols.

The training culminated with a live fire suppression demonstration where participants extinguished simulated flames using proper techniques.

Complementing this focus on physical safety was an online health talk titled, All About Her: How Thyroid Disease, Hypertension & Diabetes Affect Women. The session was facilitated by Dr. Joey Tabula, MD, who highlighted  health conditions that significantly impact women but are often undiagnosed or misunderstood.

The talk explored how thyroid disorders in women are frequently  misdiagnosed or go unnoticed due to their symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, and weight fluctuations being commonly mistaken for stress, menopause, or other hormonal shifts.

Additionally, he noted that a large number of adult women live with high blood pressure, often without noticeable symptoms, increasing the risk of severe complications such as heart disease and stroke. Dr. Tabula stressed the importance of early detection and consistent monitoring, encouraging  women to prioritize regular check-ups and advocate for their well-being.

Rooted in the company’s Armily culture, PNOC continues to invest in the development of a workforce that is not only equipped but also supported and valued. The company is dedicated to advance a culture of inclusion and empowerment through provision of training opportunities and educational resources.  These efforts ensure that its women associates are also empowered year-round to contribute, lead, and thrive within the organization
