PNOC

TAWI-TAWI, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao—PNOC led a scoping visit on February 5-6, 2025, to assess the viability of supporting a Self-Generating Industrial Park (SGIP) in Pababag, Bongao, Province of Tawi-Tawi.

The delegation included PNOC President/CEO Oliver Butalid, PNOC Directors Atty. Jasmine Oporto and Joel Caminade, PEZA Director General Theo Panga, NPC President/CEO Fernando Martin Roxas, LBP President/CEO Lynette Ortiz, DOE Director Irma Exconde, and representatives from the Bangsamoro Economic Zone Authority, along with other distinguished officials. Representatives from Pertamina Gas Negara, the state-owned energy company from Indonesia, also joined this scoping visit.

Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael ‘Mang’ Sali expressed his sincere appreciation to this high-level visit.

A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the SGIP Project marker at the proposed site and a planning workshop that involved all stakeholders.

PNOC President/CEO Oliver Butalid said that one of the key strategies being pursued by PNOC is to support innovative and cost-effective energy solutions to GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas), particularly Off Grid Islands in the Visayas and Mindanao area. The opportunity to make LNG available has arisen because of the Memorandum of Understanding entered into between PNOC and Pertamina. Once this supply route is established in Off Grid islands such as Tawi-Tawi, they will be able to rapidly develop because they will have access to affordable and secure electricity.
